Recently there have been huge wildfires in the Los Angeles area that require many of the Bay Area firefighters to help out. Although it is somewhat normal to see wildfires appear in dry grass areas during the hottest part of the year, there must be some other source other than the sun that is increasing the amount and the size of these fires.
Alameda County Deputy Fire Chief Dave Rocha proposes this question. Could it be possible that global warming is increasing the number of wildfires. It seems like there would the obvious answer of yes. Harvard scientists have tested this theory and have concluded that there should be an increase in frequency of fires in western United States. Not only are these fires destroying the Earth, but the smoke from the fire pollute the air causing serious health problems for humans.
What will happen in the future? What can we do to stop or delay this? For now, all we can do is wait.
It's not uncommon this time of year, we're usually down there more than they are up here.
