At many places that serve food including cafeterias, national parks, restaurants, stadiums, and others, the employees and owners try to
reduce waste as much as possible, striving for "zero-waste." It is obvious that America is the leader of the amount of trash being piled up because each person throws away an average of 4.6 pounds of trash everyday. One town, Nantucket, has limited space for landfill and the people are very concerned about the increase of garbage.
The town, with the blessing of residents concerned about tax increases, mandates the recycling of not only commonly reprocessed items like aluminum, glass and paper but also tires, batteries and household appliances.
This "zero-waste" idea sounds like a great idea to work on. Not only will this increased process of recycling will slow down global warming, it will also help limit the U.S.'s need of non-renewable resources.
