Swine Flu takes Over Schools

It seems that the H1N1 virus, known infamously as Swine Flu, has gotten many schools spooked. Considering that children have to sit at many desks in one day and are placed closely to other children, it can be easy to obtain a virus. The department of Education revealed that,

At least 351 schools were closed last week alone - affecting 126,000 students in 19 states...So far this school year, about 600 schools have temporarily shut their doors.

True, swine flu can be a deadly disease, but it is not the worst illness that children can catch from each other. I agree with the federal government that schools should put suspending school temporarily as the last option. School districts could warn students of the disease and inform them how to prevent exposure. This is only one suggestion, but there are many more options that schools can choose other than closing their school down.
